PE lessons include dance, gymnastics, games, swimming, orienteering and sessions with specialist sports coaches including in Tennis and Cricket in the summer months. Regular, high-quality sessions with Rightway Sports throughout the year and across the school ensure that children build their physical skills and experience in a meaningful and consistent way.
Children have a range of ways to participate in competitive sports, including in-school House Sports Competitions and Network and Borough Sports competitions in a range of sports including rugby, netball, football, athletics, orienteering, golf and boccia.
We also give children a range of opportunities to participate in a wider range of physical activity outside of PE lessons. These enrichment activities include ‘Bikeability’, sailing lessons and ‘Clip and Climb’.
The extended school day provides children with physical activity at breakfast club and after school club, run by Rightway Sports.
This range of experience supports children to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically-demanding activities. It provides opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness, fostering good habits and building character, helping to embed values such as fairness and respect.
We teach our children to:
- develop competence to excel in a broad range of physical activities
- be physically active for sustained periods of time
- engage in competitive sports and activities
- lead healthy, active lives.
