Modern Foreign Languages

In KS2, children learn Spanish for their modern foreign language study. Once a week, Spanish is taught using the Language Angels scheme. The interactive and friendly scheme covers the five core domains of language acquisition: speaking, listening, reading, writing and grammar.

Each half term, a theme allows for children to start building their vocabulary within a specific context. There is a focus on repetition and recall from memory with good pronunciation. This is then built on by learning phrases so learnt vocabulary can be put into sentences. As children develop through the years, their sentence structure will become more complex. Story and song continue to play an important part in aiding sentence work.
